Nicolas, born in Germany in Sarrland was first recorded in Jersey at the time of his marriage to anne Vautier in St. Helier. Anne's father Jean is listed as a driver with the Jersey Milita in the General Don census. Nicolas worked as a shoe maker with his brother Jean, living with him in 1841 together with Anne, their three children, Jean, his wife and five children, Philipppe Mauger, wife and two children and a lodger age 14 also a shoemaker. All these people, 17 in all, in one small house at Les Pelles in Trintiy.
Nicolas in later live worked as a commission agent and bordered with his son in law first in Melborne Lodge in Russel street and later with them at Grouville Post Office where Elias Rive had become sub postmaster.
Died at his son in law's house in Bagot, St.Saviour, Jersey. C de J 20-9-1893 & 7-10-1893 a local methodist.
Burried at Almorah cemetary, St.Helier, Jersey.
