Jean gives his place of birth as either local, Trinity or Prussia a number of times to each during his live as does his brother Nicolas who altenated between Sarland(Germany) and Jersey.
Jean worked as a shoemaker and lived at Les Pelles Road in Trinity certainly including the years from 1841 - 1861. In 1861 he had Charles de Gruchy a agricultrial labourer and his wife Rachel as boaders.
He died in 1883 age 72 at his son's Jeans house, Southview in Gorey Village(v. des Marrais) with his son present. His death was recorded in the Cronique de Jersey on Saturday 25th August 1883;
"DU FEU C'est en dormi dans les gras de son sauveur Mecredi, le 22 Auot 1883 au domicile de son fils, gorey Village, Jean du Feu, dans sa 72ne anne, les parents et amissont pries d'accepter cette insertion comme un faire-part."
